As you may know, both All Romance eBooks and Bookstrand took steps this week to remove all books from their virtual shelves containing various erotica topics including “pseudo incest”. In my case, these are ALL books that contain the word “Daddy” in the title.
Now, at the request of Paypal, Smashwords have been forced to do the same. As my books are distributed to iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and Sony by Smashwords, these titles will be removed from there also.
If you are a customer of any of these retailers this is your last chance to purchase these books. The process has already begun – they have been removed from Smashwords itself and it is only a matter of time before they are taken down from their distribution channels. All titles remain for sale at Amazon.
To reiterate – these titles are perfectly legal fiction depicting consensual sex between non-blood-related adults over the age of 18. Paypal, a payment processor and nothing more, is forcing retailers to stop selling these titles. What’s next on this slippery slope? BDSM? Gay and Lesbian erotica? Transgender titles? These are very worrying times for anyone engaged in the perfectly healthy activity of writing, reading and enjoying erotica.

I had trouble getting to sleep over this last night.
I was hoping things would go the other way – less things being deemed inappropriate for /fictional writing/ – not the other way.
